Molly's 100 Word Challenge - Week 13 Night Zookeeper

The bag, it has no bottom. But, everything that you put in it won’t fall out; this mysterious bag belongs to the invisible koala messenger. The koala messenger delivers all the zoo’s mail… The comb, when you brush your hair with it, will turn your hair multi coloured! This magical item belongs to the hair dresser bear. The comb helps the bear at the zoo’s hair-dressers… The under the water car, this helps the fish and chip shop seal catch all this fish for the shop. The car swims in the zoo’s lake, which is full of colourful fish…

Sam's 100 Word Challenge - Week 13 Night Zookeeper

I was venturing down in the magical forest at night in my zoo when I came across some strange abandoned objects. The first item I came across was an orange bottomless bag. Could this have belonged to Mail Mongoose who delivers the zoos mail? The next thing I found was a black and purple comb. Wasn’t this Beautiful Bird’s comb? As the stars carried on shining on the sky, I found all of these things: An underwater car, a magic pen, and a mirror. These things belong to the animals. The animals a the night zoo.

Harvey's 100 Word Challenge - Week 13 Night Zookeeper

I was looking through the zoo when I saw Fred the blob. He was pulling out an entire ladder from his bag; he spotted me and ran away. I carried on walking along when I heard a loud scraping noise, it was getting louder and louder I turned around and saw a rare moose in an underwater car. He was also brushing his fur. It soon passed me, then disappeared. I carried walking when I saw the snorkel. He was eating a bowling ball with a mirror, this creature was also eating my torch pen!

Emily's 100 Word Challenge Week 12

Alone. I stood alone. On the cold hard stone floor of my big empty house wondering if I would ever see daylight again... I heard a faint whilstling comiming from my front door. I paniked and broke into a cold clammy sweat, I ran down stairs to find everything as it usually was: My thick black curtains blocked my window, my stone grey chair facing the dusty wall. I sat in my chair facing the wall. Then I heard a parcel drop. I span round to see a black parcel with a pink ribbon... It was for me!! I OPENED THE PACKAGE...

Emelia's 100 Word Challenge - Week 12

Yes! Its here! I cant wait to open it. I have been waiting for this my whole life and its finally arrived.I pick the box up from the door step. The beautiful black wrapping paper feels wonderful against my cheek. The shiny, silk ribbon looks brilliant on the box. I dont want to ruin this master piece. Finally I pull the ribbon of and unwrap the box. I try to open it. Its locked. What? I dont get it. No! I felt it was the end of me. Stupid really, but this was important to me.

Grace's 100 Word Challenge - Week 12

Usually I feel what's inside gifts but this box reveals nothing. Today I have three boxes, yesterday I got more(approximately seven). Some people wouldn't hesitate in pulling their ribbons and pulling of their glistening paper;others - including me - choose to be more cautious.Everyone gets them but nobody knows what's inside them. Each one is unique: Green and orange for the baker, yellow and silver for the grocer, violet and lavender for the school master. When people get to many, or sometimes just their first one, they open them then, poof!

Elise's 100 Word Challenge Week 12

The Box "Well six o clock in the morning and mum and dad are not awake" I exclaimed to my sister "Well I'm not surprised it is early." she said as she sat up in bed. "Yeah true" i spoke "But they said they would.oh well" I cried with happieness as i got down from the bunkbed. It was my birthday. I ran downstairs and made two cups of tea one for Mum and another for Dad. I ran back upstairs and gave them their tea. They thanked me and drunk it slowly after a while they gave me a packet. There it was. What was it? POP!

Emily B's 100 Word Challenge Week 11

“Normal day, normal life, normal me”, I sighed as I scrambled out of bed. Walking slowly, I shuffled towards the bathroom. A crows nest stared back at me in the misty mirror! Then from out of the blue a bang came from my room. I plodded back to be met by a green sheet covering something. With great care I revealed a ghost like door… I opened the wonderfully scary door and stepped inside. “Woah!” There was a different land! Oh… It looked upside down! I was in a dream. ‘Pinch’. Ouch! Maybe not. I was in for a treat! By Emily B

Greek Day!

Today was Maple class's Greek day. This is to celebrate our topic on the Ancient Greeks. We dressed up as ancient greeks and all wore a toga or chiton.
In the morning, we made city state banners and wrote in greek. We made laurel headbands. After break, we tasted Greek food. Some of us thought it was absolutely horrible; others thought it was delicious! We tried: Tzatziki, olives, feta cheese, taramasalata, celery, cucumber, pitta bread, hummus, tomatoes, dates, grapes and 'red wine' (actually Ribena) We even tried a bit of greek dancing!!
During the afternoon, we held a MICRO OLYMPICS. We had cotton wool ball shotput, matchstick javelin, 2p coin discus, flicking frog long jump and tissue paper fish swimming. We named our teams and measured the distances for each member.
The team names were: The Olympians Zeus Argives Diamond Dragons The Godesses All in all we had a great day. In fact we'd call it a 'Greektastic'day!

Ester's 100 Word Challenge Week 9

As the mice prepared for themselves for battle, the other side (the ants) did a rather peculiar thing. After cleaning their antennae they began to form a strange shape which most humans would know as a helicopter. The ants, it appeared, were going for the chocolate by air!
I dashed back to warn the mice that they had to speed up or the ants would retrieve the last piece of chocolate which was rightfully theirs.
As a badger, when the mice started to panic and scatter, I instantly leapt into control. Starting to despair, the abbot took to my side. “ Old friend, will we ever get the chocolate.” …

Children In Need day at Greenfields school 2012.

Today we had a Children In Need fund raiser. We all put an amazing effort in to our pj's or clothes, we also had our face painted on the play ground, but we definitely had some fun. New class mates were joined to our class [bears!!!] We want to thank all pupils for raising lots of money. Visit  the website of children in need, [They have great games.] We'll let you know how much we raised. What did you! do  for children in need?

Harvey's 100 Word Challenge Week 9

Hello, my name is Bob, the piece of chocolate. I have been abandoned, and left in this desolate yellow landscape,(not really this is all lies I’m just stuck on this yellow plate with a few crumbs)and somehow I’ve got to get off this plate and into the stomach of a human being…hmmm .Aha! if I-BANG! BANG! BANG! a giant shadow looms over me…a human!.The human’s hand reaches towards me. It picks me up…NOM! My mission is complete. One small step for chocolate, one giant leap for chocolate kind-well, not really…sort of .

Grace's 100 Word challenge Week 9

Mars bar!

The greatest scientific discovery of all time and I made it. Being the first human on Mars was amazing but this was just legendary. Who would off thought one square of chocolate with a fingerprint on could change the world of course like this? Not me that’s for sure. It wasn’t my fault. Besides, the army will deal with the ships. When we took that chocolate we had already scoured the planet surface for something, anything that would prove their existence and then, a mere foot from our glassy craft, sat one block of choclate. Aliens!

Matty's 100 Word Challenge Week 9

This was it, the end. I was the last one left, I felt horrible with people gorping at me, it’s as if they’re about to go wild. Licking their lips, eyes wide open and they’re not even blinking, I was waiting for them or one of them to put me out of my misery. But no, no-one would even get a step closer than they were. It was like they were hypnotised, I could move from one side of the plate to the other but only their eyes moved to watch. That was it, I was going to die one way or another…

The Vitruvian Man

On Wednesday 8th November, Maple class did an exiting maths class, being watched by Mr Morris (our head teacher).

We tested Leonardo Da Vinci's theory on the Vitruvian Man. Leonardo thought that ALL humans arm span was exactly the same measurement as your height. He also thought that your ear is exactly one third of your face. None of the class proved Leo right, poor Da Vinci.

Now, you might wondering what maths is in this - but there is a lot! We had to estimate, measure fractions of amounts, proportion, use a calculator, measure accurately and many more hard and brain-racking calculations!

Get your tape measure out quickly and see if you're the Vitruvian Man!
  • Boys - is the length of your foot one-sixth of your height?
  • Is your palm the width of four fingers?
  • Is the distance from your elbow to armpit one-eighth of your height?
  • Is the distance of from your hairline to the bottom of your chin one-tenth of your height?

Get involved now!

Getting On And Falling Out...

Today at Greenfields it is Darwin day. And in Maple class we learned about 'Getting on and Falling out'.

First we talked about the qualities of a good friend, these are a few of our ideas:

Funny, adventurous, hard to fall out with, understanding, etc..etc..

Secondly we made our own friendship coins. We decorated them and wrote some of the qualities of a good friend on them and if we wanted made our own motto for the coin. Once they are all finished we are going to put them on our school Christmas tree.

Thirdly, we learned how to resolve conflict, we also found out about a thing called 'I-messages'. It's used  instead of arguing and shouting at each other, it's an easier way to say how you feel about something.

'I messaging' layout:

I feel... (the feeling you get)
When you... (the action the other person is doing that is causing the feeling)
Because... (the effect on you, or on the other people/person)

Thank-you for reading... Maybe next time your upset/angry you could use 'I message'! :-)

Girls Football

Girls Football Match!!!!

Girls Football is back and we are better than ever.  This year we have an amazing team, we have Molly in goal, Chloe and Lauren in defence, Emelia, Karis, Amber and Gracie in midfield and Amy as the striker!! On Wednesday we had our first match, we played Oxen and Oak meadow. The first match was against Oxen and the score was 3-0 to us, so we won our first match. Amy scored twice and Amber scored once. Our second match was against Oak meadow, in that match it was a draw, but still it was a success. Our third match was against Oxen again and that was 3 nil aswell.  On our fourth match we draw again and it was still 0-0. So we watch Oak meadow agents Oxen the score was 0-0, so we still got though but it was amazing match after all!

Amy's war poem

 Remember the brave

On Flanders Fields the poppies lie
Covering the graves were our brave soldiers did die,
We shall not forget them.

And even though they fought with all their might
Still our soldiers died through day and night,
We shall not forget them.

And this day still soldiers risk their lives for ours
Fighting throughout the day for long, long hours,
We shall not forget them.

So wear those poppies on your chest with pride
To remember the determined soldiers who died,
We shall not forget them.

For the soldiers who died age no longer affects them
They stand in the heavens watching over us,
We shall remember them.

I will remember you- by Emily B

When I start to feel sad,
I remember all those soliers that fought in the war,
Fighting, shooting ,bombs and more.

It makes me grateful that Im here,
Not over there full of fear,
My mind is racing how it all started,
It makes me feel oh so down harted.

In bed I lie,
As soliders die ,
Buried in Flanders fields,
A poppy shall grow in there place.

The poppy on my chest,
Shall represent,
Those who rest in peace forevermore.

On Remembrance Day

On Remembrance Day...
By Sam.G & Ethan.W
We wear our poppies with pride,
To remember those who have died,
We will never forget them.

Our soldiers who have been brave,
For now we have all been saved,
We will never forget them.

We are grateful for all the deaths of,
Men, women and animals who tried to protect us,
We will never forget them.

As bullets fly,
 Our brave soldiers die,
We will never forget them.

Up till this day, our soldiers still die,
On the eleventh of the eleventh,
We will remember thy.
On Remembrance Day.

The Corpse Bride by Mya

At home I made a doll of a character from my favourite film.
I made this doll at home with my mum. She helped me with embroidering the face. I've been making this every weekend for a few weeks now and she's still not quite finished!I am planning to make one arm and one leg look like a bone (like in the film).
I did her dress, hair, part of her face (mum did the rest) and her veil by hand.
Her name is Emily. The film is about a corpse bride who was killed on her wedding day and decided she would be buried under the oak tree. A man called Victor was practising his vows in a wood and put a ring on a branch of the oak tree and awakens Emily...
It is a film by Tim Burton and I recommend it to everyone! As you can see I love to sew and I will be making more dolls in the future!

Digital leaders teach the class!

Today Poppy, Isaac, Molly, Grace, Sam and Emily (the digital leaders in Maple) taught Maple class how to customise their Google map account.

We first showed the class how to log into their accounts and find Shrewsbury on the map.
Then we showed them how to add a marker, change the style of it and add a picture.
After that, we showed the class how to highlight areas, such as: Fields, parks and playgrounds etc...
Later, we taught them how to create a route from one place to another and customise it.

We had great fun teaching everyone (including Mrs Prior)!

Football stars

These are some of our best football trophies. The best one we got is the one in the middle. Lewis got it from his old team in Manchester called Stalybridge Celtic juniors. I got it because I was managers player of the year. The trophy on the left is for winning the Dennis Mooney memorial cup.

LaurenY's 100 Word Challenge Week 2

Hi,
You have just entered the brilliant but boring world of Ally Love!
I’ve got this new boyfriend you see his name is Lewis. My parents don’t approve of him. Anyway moving on from that, but just before we do he’s got blue eyes a great smile white teeth. Sorry sorry I get in a daydream when ever I talk about him. We were just sitting down to dinner when Mum and Dad announced they were getting a divorce form that day my world started to fall apart almost every day witch I HATE!

Karis's 100 Word Challenge Week 2

One day we were just sitting down for dinner when there was a knock at the door. I couldn’t work out who it was knocking at my door so to be safe, I quietly tiptoed to the front door and slid my head through Moggie’s cat flap and noticed a small package in brown paper and tied up with string. It was for ME! I opened the tiny parcel and it was the most extraordinary thing any one could ever discover. It was… the worlds smelliest, stinkiest and horriblest cheese in the world. “HORRAY! The gloriest, greatest, most amazing CHEESE!”

Isaac's 100 Word Challenge Week 2

It was the night when Aunt Mary and Uncle Colin were stopping. Before they arrived, we were just sitting down for dinner when the phone rang. It was Aunt Mary saying that they were involved in a large car crash, so could not make it. “Bring Bring” the phone rang again. It was an unknown number. The message read: “Hand over your Corgi, or never see your baby again.” They replied with the answer of, “Take the baby.” The baby disappeared out of the air.

Molly's 100 Word Challenge- Week 2

We were just sitting down for dinner when the doorbell rang. It was another trick-or-treater, I gave them their sweets and lumbered back to the dinner table, frustrated. I just couldn't wait any longer, "Mum, whens Ben coming?" I whined.
"Soon.." Mum replied. The doorbell rang again, "It must be him this time!" I rushed to the door exited. "BOO!" yelled Ben.
"Finally, your here!" I exclaimed. We ran into the back yard, tring to avoid all the spiders and cobwebs. I tripped, fell to the clod damp ground. I lay there for a few minutes, listening to a laugh...

Then I realised it was Chuckles the Clown......

My visit to Olympia - by Ella

Olympia

On our holiday to Zakynthos we went on a day trip to Olympia. It was hot in zakynthos but even hotter in Olympia, in fact scorching.
The museum was great it had aircon! It was also full of things found on the site, from tiny statues of animals & helmets up to massive statues that were once on top of buildings. We also saw the  helmet worn by the man who ran to tell the Greeks of a victory in battle, the first marathon.
Olympia itself was all ruins mainly because of the earthquake years ago. There were many temples honouring the Gods especially Zeus who was the god of gods.
We saw where the athelets trained & had a bath, they must have been quite small because the baths were tiny.
On the way to the arena they had life sized statues of past winners on one side but statues of the cheaters on the other, they would be “shamed for etertnity”
They didn’t run around a track but up & down a straight track, the start line was a long block of marble. Me & my mum had a go at running it but it was so hot we had a walk instead!
That’s Olympia!

Mya's 100 Word Challenge Week 1

Looking behind me, I saw my friend flapping her wings. We’ve lost him. Great .We kept looking forwards and flapping our wings. We flew into the forest and made a den from logs, twigs and leaves.
“He’s here.” A gravelly voice said from behind me.
“What?” I asked. In my mind questions whirred around my head.
“He’s here.”
“WHO?” I was getting frustrated now. I threw myself round to see who was there, no-one. I turned again nothing. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing.

Emily's 100 Word Challenge Week 1

I was out with my mate, at a adventure camp. We were there with the class. We were a mischievous pair and didn’t really listen to instructions. Anyway we were going on a walk, GROANNN…. Of we went to the woods as we got closer me and Mike spotted a sign: BEWARE. That’s all it said ??? Confused and curious we raced in like a bull. We wondered inside, astray from the rest of the class…..’Boo’! ‘AAGGHH ohh Mike…’ I blushed. I heard him mutter scardy-cat under his breath. ‘I’m not scared…. Il show him… Then looking behind me I saw …..

Amy's 100 Word Challenge Week 1

Hi I’m Amy and….wait there’s no time for chat now. I’ m bursting to tell you my story, ok here’s how it all began… I had been trapped in my nightmare for five minutes, but I was already terrified. I could just feel terror creeping up my spine. I could smell the monsters stench and, see there ugly faces staring at me licking there lips. Suddenly I heard a humongous roar. I closed my eyes dreading the consequences; looking behind me I saw a dreadful creature. I froze. “aaaaaagh”.

Sam G's 100 Word Challenge Week 1

It was a grey lousy day in London. The damp humid fog lingered around the streets and terraces in the early morning hours. I looked up from my bedroom window up into grey sheet of cloud. Then a flash appeared in the sky. I looked closer. Something was heading straight for Earth. A ball of fire. I ran down stairs, out the door “Help, help!” I shouted, but nobody could her me I ran down the street quicker and quicker. Suddenly “BANG!” looking behind me I saw a cloud of smoke. I fell on the floor. I was dead.

Our Inspiration Poem

We have been reading a poem called 'If' by anonymous. We have been discussing the idea of our 'self-talk' this week and what we tell ourselves we can or can't do.
We worked in collaborative groups to create our own parts of the poem.  We put all the parts together and came up with our class version. We wanted a poem that makes people reflect, think, and question.
What do you think?

Mind Talk – Your choice
By maple

If you think you’re not trusted,
You’re not.
If you think about bad thoughts,
Bad thoughts will think of you.

When you think you’ve failed a test,
You have.
If you want to argue, then you shall.

If everybody’s self-talk is negative,
The world will be a miserable place.

When you think you’re beaten, you’re sad.
Even if you try harder and harder, you’re mad.
Have you ever felt ashamed? You are.
If you feel afraid, you are.

If you don’t put in the pennies, you’ll never get the pounds.
Should you be in life’s tournament and you’re sure you’re done for,
Then my friend, you are.

When you think you can’t find the words,
You never will.
If you feel like you’ve fallen,
You have.
It’s all in the mind – what you think will happen, probably will.

Life begins when you start taking part.
If you believe in yourself, you will probably win.

Do you believe you can make it?
Because you can.
Have you never achieved something in life?
Have faith and you soon will.

Your life is in your hands.
Your choices are your destiny.
Life is good when you help other people.
You choose.

Hello everyone!

Hello!  We are Maple Class.  This is our new blog for this year and we are really looking forward to filling it with all the wonderful things we are going to do.
Please keep checking in to see what we have been up to.
